Sat.04.April

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush'. It's a saying that is so drenched in innuendo and possibilities that the mind has to shut itself down or blow up. Hand. Bird. Bush. In. One could become quite giddy. But, thoughts of a sexual nature aside, what does it actually mean? It means that you've had a good result and that's what you'll get should you choose to dip your hand into WiSH's bush at Gramaphone on Saturday 4th April.

In the bush downstairs you will find our two regular birds, Kath Harding and Kate Nunn, playing their best minimal, tech, techno and all points in-between and outside. They will be joined by JENNIFER CARDINI. From Paris, and crossing the channel in a single leap to be with us, Jennifer’s set is sure to get the connoisseurs of techno dribbling from all exit holes. Going about her business with neither fuss nor fanfare Jennifer has very quietly built up a massive reputation amongst people in the know. DJing for over ten years she has toured distant worlds in distant galaxies and also played regularly on our world in Paris, Berlin, Geneva, Tokyo, London and Hamburg. She has released tracks and full length mixes on Kompakt and is Kompakt's French ambassador. Jennifer has long been an advocate of minimal techno in France, mixing it up alongside Miss Kitten and 'Kill The DJ' sista, Chloe. What Jennifer doesn't know about minimal techno is - forgive us - minimal. She also sports very impressive tattoos.

Whilst downstairs will be throbbing to cutting edge techno the speakers upstairs will be throwing out a dizzying variety of musical styles. Sean Hewson and La Coop will be leading you on a psychedelic conga through the old, new and downright strange corners of their massive record bags. They will be joined by Sarah Malinky whose bag will be the biggest in the room. And you won't need to get the callipers out to test that. Visible from space it holds the entire universe and has confounded Patrick Moore for years. New favourites and old favourites will be played by one and all.

Don't be left in a queue that goes back to Shepherd's Bush, come into our hands. Get to Gramaphone at 9pm to be one of the 150 first in to pay £5 entry.
