BOOK MADE OF FOREST by Jared Stanley

I found a book recently that i'm loving. Its written my the american poet Jared Stanley and is a collection of lyrics, mock journal entries, prose portraits and odes. Packed in my bag next to my Moleskin sketchbook one of my favourite things at the moment is taking a walk to the park near me, finding a bench or a nice tree to sit under, reading one of the pieces, enjoying the fresh air and then pulling out my moleskin notebook and sketching something, anything, whatever comes into my head. This book is perfect accompaniment for this. Here is a little preview from the book, one of the poems i really like.

GARAGE SALE

Your name spelled in objects
on the futon of a Sunday.

Two phone lines cross
a jay's projectory, its shadow
opens and closes
crosshairs and augury.

My green left hand
wrestling with some knick-knack -
"you broke it you kiss it,"

says a lone gentleman
with a quetzal feather
in a Chevy's sombrero
sitting among pattio furniture
clad in boy's underwear.

"That's trash, it's cool."
One can just see the moon
behind a contrail,
its oceans bluer at noon.

A little fleck of paint
on the blue dresser.

A rake is imitating a typewriter,
scratching the word yes
in the dirt between the trees.

The tree's blossoms smell like crotch.
The whole town says "why not,"
covering their mouths with fig leaves.

Roman Londoner EP - Raymundo Rodriguez

The DJ who never sleeps, Jaded's own Raymundo Rodriguez has turned is hand to production! 'Roman Londoner', Ray's first EP release is due out on Black&White Orange Records on the 24th August. Ray knows his deep house and boy this EP shows exactly that. Both tracks, 'Stanstead Boogie' and 'Ciampino Groove' are beautifully constructed, groovy as hell and basslines that are just going to keep any dancefloor electrified. If this is only Ray's first release I can't wait to hear what follows. Full support from the WiSH crew.
